I was told that my upper unit water pump is not pumping. Is this easy to change and how?

I am a first time boat owner of a 1979 100hp evinrude. I have no water coming out of spout by the engine. I was told the upper unit water pump by somebody. Is this hard to change or should I not be cheap and take it in. Mechanics want 177.00 and the water pump kit is only 30.00.I was told that my upper unit water pump is not pumping. Is this easy to change and how?it's worth about $140 tax and all, but maybe where you are located it's $177. not too bad. be wise and don't try to do it yourself. good luck.I was told that my upper unit water pump is not pumping. Is this easy to change and how?SOME THINGS ARE BEST LEFT TO THE PROS. THIS IS ONE OF THEM. ONE BROKEN BOLT AND YOU WILL CAUSE MORE HARM TO YOURSELF AND ENGINE. THEY ARE PREPARED FOR BROKEN BOLTS AND HAVE THE TOOLS TO REPAIR THEM. SPEND THE MONEY AND ENJOY YOUR BOATING. WHILE YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT IT YOU ARE NOT USING YOUR BOAT. GOOD LUCK...I was told that my upper unit water pump is not pumping. Is this easy to change and how?do it yourself, takes less than an hour, it's called an impeller, what it does is draws water into the engine from a outside water source like a lake or river, garden hose
