Hi can i find out if anyone has changed their water pump before?

i am driving a Renault Megane Cabriolet(soft top) 2001 1.6 16V.noticed that when i drive out this morning, there was a small spot(abt the diameter of tennis ball)of coolant on the floor.i went to a mechanic and he said it could be the water pump leaking.does anyone knows if there could be any other causes?how can i be sure that it is due to the water pump as i had changed it at the 60000km servicing?my current mileage is at 90000km.i thought water pump could last much longer than that.also if it is due to the water pump is there any other cheaper alternatives to changing the water pump?thanks!Hi can i find out if anyone has changed their water pump before? You will need to clean the area closes to the where the leak is comming from. All radiator shops and most repair shops have a coolent preasure tester. They will need to put the presure about 15LBS past the cap pressure and you should see coolent spraying out from the leak area. At the same time you will be diagnosing your entire cooling system. Gaskets, radiator, hoses, clamps, water pump, heater hoses and system. This is the only test to be definate in locating the leak.

fmhguitars@yahoo.comHi can i find out if anyone has changed their water pump before?Coolant outside of the car, you said floor..... could be anything, radiator, hoses, heater valve. If the leak is inside on your floor than it is the heater core.Hi can i find out if anyone has changed their water pump before?Go to a mechanic that knows something about cars. If you see coolant on the floor it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out where it is coming from. If you can't see it, have it pressure tested, that should show where the leak is.
