Where is and how do i work on the water pump on a 1997 mercury 9.9hp outboard motor?

when running has intermitten water flow coming from where the coolant water line is and after flushing the line i want to take the water pump out and change it to see if thats the problem, any suggestions?Where is and how do i work on the water pump on a 1997 mercury 9.9hp outboard motor?the water pump is located in the lower unit, the part with the prop.
